“Shaman in a Concrete Jungle“
In 1953 in El Salvador Edgardo Gomez was born a stillborn baby. Through the ministering of his Grandmother, a shaman, he was brought back to life by placing him on the earth under a big metal wash basin. Using the rhythm of the earth’s heart she beat on the “drum” placed over him for an hour until he took his first breathe. This Shamanic miracle was the beginning of his legacy to become a Mayan Shaman. He learned Mayan Healing Traditions and teachings from his Grandmother while growing up in El Salvador. Now a Mayan Jaguar Shaman, he has travelled The Mayan Path through Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Belize, and Mexico. He has also studied other cultures of healing and shamanism around the world such as Egypt, Mongolia, Russia, China, Peru, Panama, and the USA. In 1994 Edgardo Gomez moved to Canada. He has successfully applied Shamanic healing techniques to many clients living in “Concrete Jungles” or cities.
Edgardo says “Having inherited these gifts from my family who have practiced diverse methods of Shamanic healing for a long time, I have worked closely with First Nations Elders in Canada, and always strive to serve my fellow man. I enjoy sharing my culture and the Shamanic philosophies while preserving Shamanic wisdom and medicine teachings.” Edgardo is a father of four children and four step children. He works in a clinic with his wife Jennifer Gomez, a Holistic Nutritionist and B.I.E./Allergy Practitioner.
Edgardo says “ I refer to myself as “ A Shaman working in a Concrete Jungle.” My wish is to be a good healer and to serve others in their daily life providing assistance against suffering through Awareness. My philosophy is “Balancing the Soul and releasing the Spirit” by working together to transform our suffering into well-being and thus help heal Mother Nature as well as Mother Earth and all kinds of life on her. I feel that suffering doesn’t allow us to see who we really are. Without an open mind and heart, it is not easy for many to create a healthy mind, body, soul, and spirit to balance our daily life. Through my work I will assist those who are seeking to heal themselves and recognize their own healing abilities using the power of the Great Spirit, Creator, the Great Eagle, the four directions, East, South, West, and North plus the combination of the elements Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Ether which complements the human life.” Edgardo chose the South American condor and the North American eagle as symbols of his personal journey. Ancient prophecy states that the Maya will return to the North. The South American Condor and the North American Eagle are spirit symbols of the Mayan returning to the North.
